Burrendong Wind Farm Update - September 2020

Scoping report lodged

This month Epuron lodged the Scoping Report for the project with the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE). The DPIE is the consent authority for renewable energy projects in NSW, which are considered State significant development. The DPIE will use the Scoping Report to prescribe the technical studies required, called Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs).

The proposed current design includes 69 turbines, and the site is located within the NSW Government’s Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ), an area rich in renewable energy resources expected to yield up to 3,000 megawatts (MW) of new generation capacity, enough to power 1.3 million homes.
