Uterne providing clean power to Alice Springs

Almost 2 years after the commissioning of the extension of the Uterne solar power station, the project continues to provide Australia's sunniest city with green power. The original solar project at Uterne was acquired by Epuron in October 2012 from SunPower Corp as a 1.0 MW operating plant. Following the acquisition Epuron then set about expanding the site's capacity through adding another solar field adjacent to the original solar farm, increasing the overall capacity four-fold to 4.1 megawatts. The tracking capabilities of the solar panels at Uterne provide a much higher energy yield than fixed panels.

Since the upgrade was completed the project has met all performance expectations while powering Alice Springs. Power from the solar plant is distributed to the town by Power and Water Corporation.
