MEDIA RELEASE: Epuron Applauds NSW Government Support for Wind Power

Epuron has today welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement in which it throws its support behind wind energy development in NSW. As the leading wind farm developer in NSW, Epuron believes the measures announced today will substantially enhance the State’s wind energy development.

“While we still need to see some of the finer detail of this announcement, we believe it sends all the right signals that the NSW Government is doing what it can to help get wind projects up and running,” Martin Poole, Executive Director of Epuron said.

“Epuron’s projects can deliver substantial growth in green jobs, as well as investment- much of it in regional communities. This is at a time when many companies in other sectors are scaling back their activities- I think the NSW Government has recognised this.

“NSW has the capability to provide more than 20 percent of its electricity from wind power, creating new green jobs and economic growth while at the same time reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“We applaud Premier Rees and his Government for introducing these measures,” Mr Poole said.

“Streamlining the complicated NSW development process, lowering the threshold for ‘critical infrastructure’ status from 250MW to 30MW and having dedicated go-to people in Government will help to speed up projects, remove roadblocks and get the State’s renewable capabilities moving.

“Strong support and recognition of renewable energy by the NSW Government will really assist companies like ours to move more quickly in making large investments in new, clean power generation capacity around NSW.

“This will translate into new green jobs for the people of NSW,” Mr Poole said.
